How we plan every voyage
Each Mistborne tour is planned around three considerations: the navigational character of the water, the conditions expected for that time of year, and the pace guests prefer. Routes are not scripted performances — they are responsive passages shaped by the tide, the weather, and the particular interests of the guests onboard.
Provisioning is handled directly with a local caterer from Johor Bahru. Snorkel sites are selected by our PADI divemaster on the morning of each tour based on current conditions. Safety checks are completed before every departure regardless of route length.

TOUR 01 · 3 HOURS
Johor Strait Morning Cruise
Departing from Puteri Harbour Marina, this three-hour cruise heads east through the Johor Strait — the narrow waterway that separates Peninsular Malaysia from Singapore. The route passes busy shipping lanes where container vessels, tankers, and pilot boats share a compressed passage. As the strait widens toward the eastern end, vessel traffic thins and the water opens.
A full nasi lemak breakfast is served onboard with eggs, sambal, and local coffee. From the deck, both countries are visible at the same time — the Singapore skyline to the south, the Johor waterfront to the north.

TOUR 02 · FULL DAY
Desaru Coast Full Day
A full-day voyage from Iskandar Puteri eastward along the Johor coast. The route passes Tanjung Pelepas — one of the world's highest-throughput container ports — before the coast transitions to the quieter eastern shore. The scale of the port infrastructure, seen from the water, is worth the passage alone.
The midday stop at a sandbar near Tanjung Balau offers shallow-water swimming in clear conditions. A grilled satay and fried rice lunch is served on deck afterward. The afternoon reef snorkel at a site near Desaru selected for current visibility closes the active portion of the day before the return journey along the coast.

TOUR 03 · 2 DAYS / 1 NIGHT
Eastern Johor Overnight Expedition
A two-day voyage from Iskandar Puteri to the islands off Mersing — Pulau Rawa and Pulau Besar. The yacht departs midmorning, reaching the first island by early afternoon. The rest of that day is for swimming and exploring the island's shallow bays.
Dinner is prepared and served onboard at anchor, with only the sounds of the reef outside. The overnight anchorage is in a sheltered bay with calm conditions and clear skies. The second morning opens with a reef snorkel near Pulau Besar before brunch. The return journey follows the Johor coast back to Puteri Harbour, passing Mersing's fishing fleet on the way out.

Commercial marine insurance
All Mistborne tours operate under active commercial marine liability insurance.
Quarterly vessel inspections
Hull, engine, navigation, and safety systems checked every three months by a certified marine engineer.
Safety briefing at departure
Every tour starts with a calm safety orientation — life jacket use, communication procedures, and basic protocols.
VHF communication
All vessels maintain radio contact throughout each tour and carry an EPIRB for emergency location.
First aid onboard
Marine first aid kits are carried on all tours. The first mate holds a current marine first aid certificate.
Weather-based departure decisions
Departures are assessed against marine weather forecasts. Guests are notified in advance if conditions require rescheduling.
